Happy Bees

A Mobile Beehive Focusing on the Comfort of Bees
Fabien Roy
Switzerland
2018

The bees population has known a huge decrease these twenty last years, the causes are notably the phytosanitary treatments used in agriculture, but also some diseases and a parasites. While the standards beehives are built with the aim to maximise honey production, they are very far to the natural habitat of the bees. Happy Bees is a mobile, alternative beehive focusing on the comfort of the bees, and designed to facilitate bees transhumance. This is done by mimicking as much as possible the natural habitats of the bees, which are often made of tree trunks: a cylindrical structure made of expanded granulates cork bound by natural resin.
